Today’s assault rifles pride themselves on billet-crafted receivers in their design and construction, and Yankee Hill Machine was able to keep up with their own version of these rifles with the YHM Model 57 XL. I had a whole day of testing this gun a few years back, and I didn’t want to let go of it. It shoots flawlessly, like I was holding something customed for my body and style of shooting. This YHM rifle has a striking appearance with its burnt bronze Cerakote finish, looks kick-ass, and performs as a tactical weapon should.

When I had the opportunity to test the YHM model 57 XL, we spent around a few hundred rounds of 5.56 mm. It’s amazing we did not experience any misfire; the gun simply fired until the last bullet. It rests perfectly in its firing stance and shoots accurately for about a hundred yards. The material this firearm is made of makes it very durable with Cerakote-finished receivers and handguards.

Pros and Cons

The rifle’s exterior is protected by its Cerakote finish, and its extra length gives adequate space for a forward grip. It also features QDS (Quick Deploy Sights) made of aircraft-grade aluminum that folds and gets into place by pressing a button. I also like its hi-tech, new-age appearance, which matches the rifle’s performance, though I almost couldn’t believe it only operates in semi-automatic mode.
